Yes, let's go to Thailand!

As depicted in the movie "The Beach" starring DiCaprio, Thailand has an unfathomable charm and magic that cannot be found in any other country. Young people from all over the world gather in Bangkok, the sacred land of backpackers, to repeat their trips to the heavenly beach counties scattered around the country.

I myself was one of those who were possessed by the magic of Thailand and went back and forth many times in the 90's. Without any information, I went to Phuket and Samui without knowing what to expect. Without any information, I visited Phuket and Koh Samui, Phi Phi, Koh Phangan where the full moon party was in full swing, and more than 15 other islands, including some that had no names, and repeatedly "explored" them by motorcycle and boat. I was even planning to quit the company I was working for at the time and run a cottage on Koh Phangan, but... I never got around to it (lol).

In December 2004, Phuket and Phi Phi islands were hit by the tsunami caused by the Sumatra earthquake and suffered tremendous damage. Since then, I have been away from Phuket and Phi Phi for about 20 years, but I would like to go back there soon to smell the unique "smell" of Thai beaches.

So what is it that makes Thailand so appealing? Unique and beautiful nature, unique Buddhist culture, relaxed tropical lifestyle, free spirit, friendly and hospitable people, delicious Thai food, affordable cost of living... the list goes on and on. There is also a rich tradition of holistic aspects such as yoga, meditation, massage, and the pursuit of physical and mental health and harmony. The combination of these various elements is what draws many travelers to Thailand to enjoy and feel its charm.

However, one unexpected aspect of Thailand is that it is also a very dangerous country, with the highest rate of gun ownership in Southeast Asia, with approximately 10.3 million guns known to be in the possession of the public. Please be careful when traveling in Thailand!

Thanks to the backpackers (travelers) who gather in Thailand from all over the world, known as "new hippies," and share their charms with the world on SNS, it is easy to get a variety of information from front to back, with videos and photos. But close your smartphone, turn off your navigation system, and visit Thailand using only your physical senses. Thailand will surely smile back at you.
